About

Processed with VSCO with a1 presetHey! Thanks for visiting my site. My name is Julia, and this is a little bit about me . . .

I was born on May 8th, 2000 in Pasadena, California. When I was three years old, I moved to Connecticut to be closer to my extended family. Although I’ve grown up in CT, I still miss the West Coast—especially during the winter. I’d take palm trees and beaches over snow shoveling any day of the year.

I’ve always considered myself a creative person, but it wasn’t until the end of eighth grade that I discovered my love for writing. I was in a very dark place, so writing was my way to express the thoughts and emotions I bottled up inside me. It gave me the voice I thought I’d lost forever . . . and it also gave me something to do that wasn’t watching TV or moping around my house.

Digging myself out of rock bottom was a long and painful process, and if I didn’t have writing, I don’t know if I could have done it. But I did, and now, after years of straddling the line between relapse and recovery, I’ve finally committed to the latter. It’s been almost three years since my last hospitalization, and I don’t plan on returning ever again.

I currently live in the peaceful town of West Hartford, Connecticut with my family and my four cats. Some other interesting facts about me are:

I’ve been a vegetarian for as long as I can remember.

My favorite food is my mom’s banana bread.

My favorite music genre is 90’s alt-rock.

My favorite TV show is an underrated Norwegian drama called Skam.

I’m not partial to movies because I have a low attention span, though I’m always down for a good psychological thriller.

I like to think I’m tech-savvy . . . despite the fact that it took me an entire weekend to create this website.

  1. Boy, can I relate to the stress, the self-doubt of how my book would be received and wondering if l would be any good at writing. My niece tagged me as she thought I could appreciate your process. I do! My first book, Strong From the Start- Raising Confident and Resilient Kids came out 9 years ago. My most recent, Trust Your Doctor..but Not That Much – Be Your Own Best Healthcare Advocate dropped in April. Congrats on persevering. Best on your new book and your good health. Reina
